# How-To Steps:

- Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy pot over medium-high heat. Add beef cubes and brown on all sides in batches if needed. Remove beef and set aside.
- In the same pot, cook onions for 3 to 4 minutes until softened. Add garlic, red and green bell peppers, and jalapeño; cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for one minute until the spices become fragrant.
- Add tomato paste and cook, stirring constantly, for one minute.
- Return browned beef to the pot. Add diced tomatoes with their juice, beef broth, kidney beans, and black beans. Stir thoroughly to combine.
- Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the lid and continue simmering for 30 minutes until the chili thickens and beef becomes tender.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Serve hot with optional toppings such as sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped cilantro, sliced green onions, or lime wedges.
